Alongside the accessories, the REN collection now also includes a small armchair and a sofa. In both sessions the "ren" sign that characterizes the entire series is back. Graph, pure, geometric, encloses the sides of the two sessions and becomes a supporting structure. The collection is named after the Chinese character "ren", which means person. The longer section protrudes slightly and is supported by the shorter one. The two elements depend on each other for stability, in a relationship that expresses exactly the architectural construction of each element of the collection. Each piece consists of two "ren", which make up the main structure in solid canaletto walnut and support the secondary structures, also in wood. The armchair is inspired by the classic theater foyer seats, places for tradition of meeting and relationship, and gives a contemporary interpretation. Each element invites to sociality and conversation, to free and informal gestures. But lines and volumes are compact, clean, very modern. The enveloping backrest also acts as an armrest, the seat is deliberately shallow, the backrest cushion adds a touch of comfort and gives rhythm to the backrest. The same, welcoming essentiality gives shape to the sofa. A linear bench and a rounded back, complete also in this case of lumbar cushion. The dryness of lines, the small size, the study of the comfort of both sessions, make two transversal projects. Ideal in different environments of the home but also in collective settings and spaces for meeting and waiting. As with the entire collection, design cleaning enhances precious materials and precious details. The connection points between the supporting structure in solid canaletto walnut and the curved beech back shell are finished externally by brass rings. The upholstery can be entirely in Pelle Frau® leather or can be combined with leather upholstery for the seat and fabric for the lumbar cushion. DESIGN BY: NERI & HU
